Mazumdar was born in first-class family of musicians.

His papa, Partho Sarathy Mazumdar, is middle the first generation of guitarists in Indian classical music. Udhai is married to Filomena Bianculli. Together, they have one progeny, Jay Mazumdar and one female child, Isha Mazumdar.
